Practical, engaging online workshops
Making it easy for like-minded successors to meet, share and learn
The challenge of all successors to families-in-business is to identify, asses and mitigate the impact that membership of a family-in-business may have on decisions, relationships, self-image and opportunities. This ‘impact of ownership’ for the Successor manifests in four ways as being life-long, unique, complex and important.
The following six workshops are intended to address topics relevant to successors as they – and those with whom they work – discover, decide and contribute.
Workshop 1:
Should I work as a manager in the family company?
To work - or not - in the family company is one of the most important decisions you will face as a successor. For the successor, this can present a number of issues, which must be weighed up and evaluated, as you consider a management career in your family’s company.
In this presentation and discussion, I will draw on my - and participants’ - experience, to:
- Outline the pressure and expectations, experienced by many successors, to work in the family business;
- Present the issues you should consider - over time and in step-wise fashion - when faced with this question;
- Map out a logical approach to the decision.
This workshop will be especially useful for successors actively considering working in their family business, or those advising and supporting them.
