A new look at what you bring to the family business, based on your aptitude, skills and interests; your value to your family business. We begin with your current role, your accomplishments and mistakes. We spend time on your demonstrated skills and will place these within the context of your family business employees.

  • A re-assessment of your aptitude based on your accomplishments, skills and interests 
  • An appreciation for the particular requirements to succeed in your business
  • An understanding of the source of your current value to the family business

We look at those things that contribute to, or hinder, the foundations of consensus, in a family-in-business. We evaluate the cases of family dynamics and use a number of relationship tests, to help you identify your situation before assessing your family's growth potential.

  • An understanding of the causes, over time, of family complexity and the effective ways to manage these
  • Self-evaluation of your family dynamics and tests of key relationships
  • Self-identified family SWOT and the potential for continued consensus

We examine those tests others' use to assess your credibility over time. Next we develop your 'career story' as a tool to help you identify where you are and what you wish to achieve. Finally we use a tool to identify your behaviours and to guide us towards a self-assessment of your credibility and any necessary actions to maintain and/or augment this over time.

  • Use of a tool to help you gauge and moderate your behaviour for credibility

Using the details of the successor context identified in Module 1, we identify and assess those challenges unique to you as a successor to a family-in-business. We cover the role profiles available to successors over a lifetime and identify those competencies necessary to succeed in each role. Finally we introduce tools to help you manage these demands over time.

  • Tools to manage these challenges and the multiplicity of demands, that come with the territory

Finally a fusion of those requirements - covered in the course - for balanced successor performance over time. We identify and map out a way forward, identify your development requirements and those individuals or organisations who can support you.
